Previously a PC and mobile game only, The Banner Saga is finally coming to consoles early next year.
Developer Stoic has said that porting the viking strategy title has given them the opportunity to improve the controller experience for players. “Porting the game certainly presented technical challenges that we needed to overcome,” said Stoic founder John Watson. “We have managed to merge the story and gameplay from Banner Saga with a refined controller interface to make it a very enjoyable console gaming experience.”
The controller redesign has implications for Stoic’s future projects as well. The Banner Saga 2 is already in development and due out sometime in 2016.
The Banner Saga comes to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 12. For more on all things gaming, keep checking back with Gamespresso.
