Coming off the holidays, Sony Computer Entertainment announced today the PS4 has now sold 35.9 million units since its launch in 2013. During the holiday season alone, roughly 5.7 million consoles were sold through to consumers.
As of January 3rd, holiday console sales were matched by equally strong worldwide software sales, 35 million PS4 games, retail and digital, selling in the same period.
Compared to the previous year, Sony also announced that PS+ subscriptions were up by 60% by the end of 2015.
Andrew House, President and Global CEO of SCEI commented on the strong numbers saying, “We are absolutely delighted that so many customers have selected PS4 as the best place to play throughout this holiday season and that the PS4 community is growing more than ever.”
He continued, promising better things to come, saying, “We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences, and look forward to bringing an unprecedented games portfolio… including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, New Hot Shots Golf (working title) and The Last Guardian, this coming year.”
