A pleasant surprise, contrary to what we knew about Battlefront expansions yesterday, has spread throughout the Star Wars community. The Death Star was announced for the game’s Fall expansion. And the “Outer Rim” expansion is set for March of this year, “Fight among the factories of Sullust and battle within Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine.”
This is an announcement is discordant with a previous Twitter post that corrected the speculating rumors on a Tatooine stage. This new map will be available along with new outfits for Luke and Leia. Additionally, the “Raider Camp” map will be expanded to include modes like Droid Run, Drop Zone, and Heroes vs Villains, to name a few.
In response to the Twitter teaser implication that Hoth was going to make it into the next expansion, EA delivered. Staying true to the image of the tundra-garb from the photo, Han Solo and Luke will have their weather appropriate costumes now while battling on the frozen wastelands of Hoth. Luke will also have his original blue lightsaber.
Summer 2016 is scheduled to release the Bespin expansion, “It’s hunt or be hunted in this action-packed experience set in the Cloud City of Bespin.”
This year’s expansions, as well as early 2017, will be available for the purchase of the season pass. It is currently available for $50.
Free expansions for this year include a February release of a new “Survival” mission on Hoth, as well as a new multiplayer map that will accompany larger groups of players such as Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron and Turning Point.
