A first for the Call of Duty franchise, a ‘Double Cryptokey Weekend’ is now live on Black Ops 3.
If you’re a fan of the series, double XP weekends would be all too familiar to you. Treyarch Studios have decided to mix things up a bit and launch their first ever double cryptokey weekend, which started January 15 at 10AM PST and will run through until Tuesday, January 19 at 10AM PST. Long live the weekend, right?
The method for unlocking cryptokeys remains the same – multiplayer progression and lots of playing. Keys earned can be used to unlock either a 10-key or 30-key supply drop, each with a chance to unlock an epic or legendary item, the 30-key having a much higher chance of this. The system came under fire recently with the introduction of micro-transactions as a method to purchase cryptokeys.
The ‘Black Market’, where keys are used is only available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
Black Ops 3’s first DLC pack, Awakening, will be available in February.
