Earlier today, fans of EA Sports’ NCAA Football series came out of the woodwork when the publisher posted to the game series’ Facebook page for the first time in one and a half years.
This led to rampant speculation among fans of the cancelled series that it would make a return, but EA has since offered clarification that the came may not be making a return in the foreseeable future.
“We have no new plans or announcements to make regarding the EA SPORTS NCAA Football series.” EA said in a comment to Gamezone.
“Today’s National Championship game reminds us more than ever that the hearts in our community still beat for college football.”
While the statement specifically states that the company has no current announcements to make, the news certainly doesn’t bode well for fans holding out for the next instalment.
EA had announced in 2013 that it would be discontinuing the popular football series following a “…dispute between the NCAA and student-athletes who seek compensation for playing college football.”
