While the ‘Evolution Championship Series’ is still almost half a year away, the list of games that will be playable in the renowned fighting game tournament series. Otherwise known as EVO, the annual event always has a build-up towards this day: the day where passionate fighting game players hope their game is part of the circuit. On a stream with EVO organizer Joey Cueller and Mike Ross, the games announced were: Street Fighter V, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Pokken Tournament, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat X and Tekken 7: Fated Retribution.
Super Smash Bros. Melee and Wii U, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat X and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 makes their return from 2015’s lineup. Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator and Tekken 7: Fated Retribution are the updated versions of the game from last year. The rest of the 2016 lineup are newcomers to the tournament stage while Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Street Fighter IV are shelved this year.
EVO 2016 will take place in Las Vegas from July 15th to the 17th; the place where all the world’s most impressive fighting game players will come together to lock heads and be crowned the best of their respective games.
