Final Fantasy has been one of the most successful and critically acclaimed video game series of all time. Ironic, considering it was named with the assumption that it would be the last game published by the nearly bankrupt Squaresoft, now Square Enix. With a new title in the franchise coming soon, there are some interesting changes coming with it.
In the world of RPG’s there is no set standard for combat. While a turn-based style was the norm in the past, more RPG’s recently have switched to a more action fast paced system. Final Fantasy XV, however, lets you do both. When asked about the game’s difficulty settings on the forums, lead game designer Takizawa Masashi answered with this new information.
“By having this ability to switch modes, we want to make it so that both players who like action oriented, technical gameplay and also those who want to fight at a slower, more relaxed pace can all enjoy the combat in their own style,” he stated. “We will go into more detail about the system closer to the game’s launch so stay tuned for more information.”
While no release date has been announced for Final Fantasy XV, it is expected to be available this year for PS4 and Xbox One.
