Iron Maiden’s first video game, Ed Hunter, was released back in 1999.
Since then, Steve Harris has wanted to re-visit the character. “We know many of our fans are gamers and we have long thought that Eddie and Maiden’s music and imagery would be perfect for this, […] It’s something we have been looking at revisiting since Ed Hunter way back in 1999.”
Roadhouse CEO, James Hursthouse, is thankfully there to back them up. According to Gamespot, Hursthouse is a long time fan of Iron Maiden. “I have always thought that Maiden’s music, lyrics, and cast of characters would provide the perfect basis for a deep RPG experience,”
Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast will be launching for iOS and Android this summer. The RPG will be free to play, and is described as action packed, and deep within the Iron Maiden mythology.
According to the game’s official description, “Players explore new worlds, travel through time, and battle a cast of dramatic and engaging characters drawn from the expansive catalogue of Maiden’s albums and art.” You’ll be playing as the bands official mascot, Eddie.
