John Boyega describes next Star Wars film as "much darker"
Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega has described the as-yet unnamed Episode VIII as being "much darker" than the smash-hit.Talking to Vogue, Boyega, who plays Finn in the film, described his role in the next film as "much more physical". When asked what he thinks of the script, Boyega replies "It's great. Much darker, but we're very excited."

There is no denying Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ critical and commercial success – in many viewers’ eyes, it was the perfect follow-up both as a sequel to the Original Trilogy and as a reassurance following the Prequel Trilogy.
That said, many are criticising it for being too similar to A New Hope, which is followed by the noticeably darker Empire Strikes Back. It will be interesting to see if this trilogy follows suit, but judging by how even The Force Awakens’ themes were darker than A New Hope, it seems that Episode VIII will continue this trend in the new trilogy.
