Sony announced that during their last quarter between October and December 2015, the company shipped 8.4 million PS4 consoles to retailers.
The number was revealed in their financial reports, which showed that Sony’s various divisions made $21.5 billion overall and $1 billion in net profit. The gaming and network sales division of Sony saw sales of $4.9 billion, which is roughly a 10 percent increase compared to the same time in 2014.
This was partially due to the $92 million write-off loss during 2014 attributed to the PlayStation TV and PlayStation Vita, while Sony stated the “significant increase” was due to high PS4 sales.
Sony reiterated that they will plan to sell 17.5 million PS4 consoles by the end of the current fiscal year which will culminate at the end of March 2016.
