If you were unaware that the seventh episode of the Star Wars saga was released in theaters last month, you might just live under a rock. Not only has The Force Awakens won over the hearts of many true fans, it has also reached an amazing milestone in the United States.
The latest installment in the Star Wars franchise has just passed 2009’s Avatar as the highest grossing film in U.S. box office history. Avatar stood tall with $760.6 million for six years, but it only took 20 days for The Force Awakens to put it down a notch with $761 million. This is even more impressive when you consider it took James Cameron’s epic 318 days to reach that mark.
How much further can Star Wars: The Force Awakens take the record? How many years will it remain on top? What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
