The first half of 2016 is packed with superhero showdowns like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March) and Captain America: Civil War (May), but DC fans have a lot to look forward to when Suicide Squad hits theaters this August.
Actress Margot Robbie, Wolf of Wall Street, has been speaking more and more about her role as Harley Quinn in the upcoming ensemble film.
In an interview with Cineplex, Robbie talked about how much she had in common with the psychiatrist-turned-villain character. “Harley is creepy, violent, crazy–all of the things that I aspire to be,” she said. “It’s the fun of living vicariously through someone who is doing things that I would never do in real life.”
Robbie also talked about how much fun she had working with Will Smith as she previously worked with him in the film Focus. “I enjoyed working with Will so, so much that I was overjoyed when I heard that we would be working together again,” she said. “I actually texted him when I heard he was in negotiations to be in Suicide Squad and kept peer-pressuring him, ‘You’d better be taking this movie!’ He obviously signed on for his own reasons, but I was so incredibly happy that we got to do Round Two. He’s awesome on set and awesome off set. He’s just a really, really good person.”
Suicide Squad is directed by Fury helmer David Ayer and stars Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney. The film is set to be released on August 5th, 2016.
