A new Steam Group has been launched to share news about an upcoming beta and to gather participants. If you’re interested in taking part in the free-to-play game’s foray into matchmaking, you can join the Steam Group here.
While nothing has been confirmed by Valve, the launch of the group and a Reddit post that coincides with it serve as the announcement. Previous updates to the title have hinted at a competitive mode on the horizon, but Valve hadn’t shared any specific details about releasing a beta.
As the game stands, there is zero matchmaking. You can either let the game find a server for you, which doesn’t factor in skill levels or you can use a server browser to find a specific server.
How do you feel about the introduction of competitive matchmaking in TF2? I’m not going to lie, I’m a little bit excited.
