Upcoming Id Software title, Doom, will run at 60fps in 1080p on all platforms, according to the developer.
In a new installment of “22 Reasons To Love Doom” series, the idTech 6 engine, which will be debuting with the title was highlighted.
“We want players to wonder how Doom and idTech 6 games can be so visually stunning at 60 frames-per-second at 1080p on all platforms, when other titles cannot even achieve a similar look at 30 frames-per-second,” lead project programmer, Billy Khan, said.
Running at 60fps and at 1080p is something that’s not common with the current generation of consoles, with a lot of titles having limitations in either framerate or resolution to guarantee reliable gameplay.
idTech 6’s dev team included former Crytek staff, whose CryEngine is one of many game engines to have overtaken idTech.
Doom launches on May 13 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
