For any that don’t know, Firefight was an early step in the modern trend of wave-based game modes, similar to Gears of War’s Horde Mode, where a team of players must stand their ground against increasingly hard waves of enemies. Things are kept interesting as weapons and vehicles drop throughout the match. Considering the “Warzone” moniker added to Halo 5’s take, it’s not hard to imagine how big the game might take the old fan favorite mode.

While the post didn’t say anything beyond that the mode was in the works, more information was promised for the coming months.

Hammer Storm added new maps and even new game modes, like Grifball, to Halo 5.
