After LEGO Star Wars kicked off the LEGO games franchise all the way back on the PS2 and Xbox in 2005, LEGOs are returning to that old galaxy with LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens.
Set to release June 28th, TT Games is already making some big promises. The game “will introduce brand new gameplay mechanics to build, battle and fly through the galaxy like never before, as well as new story content exploring the time between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, providing additional insight about the new movie and its characters,” the developer said in a press release.
As for what those new mechanics might be, TT Games teased what they are calling “Multi-builds,” a system in which “players can choose from multiple building options to advance the game.” For anyone that hasn’t picked up a LEGO game, they mostly involve breaking blocks and building specific things from those blocks to continue. This would be the first game to allow various build options.
The game will also feature “new Blaster Battles” in which players will be “utilizing surrounding environments to drive back the First Order.”
Posting on the PlayStation Blog, Game Director Jamie Eden said, “Through a strong collaboration with Lucasfilm, we’ve been able to create new stories and adventures connecting the Star Wars narrative, both before and tying into the movie. As such huge fans of the franchise, it’s a tremendous honor to have that privilege.”
Eden then also announced PlayStation exclusive DLC in the form of the Droid Character Pack and the Phantom Limb Level Pack. While TT Games isn’t sharing any details just yet, do you think the Phantom Limb Level Pack might refer to a certain one-handed Jedi? We’ll just have to wait to find out.
LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens is due out June 28th. As we find out more about it, you’ll find all the news right here on Gamespresso.
