It seems Valve Software have been up to no good – the giant will be facing the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Court in March.
The suit, filed in August 2014, states that Valve made “false or misleading representations to Australian customers,” the focus being around their lack of refund policy.
The ACCC had demanded Valve provide an email address, 1800 number and a Post Office Box to customers, enabling customers to contact them directly concerning refunds, as well as appoint contact officers.
Since the suit was filed, Valve have implemented a refund policy, the impact (or legality) of which is yet to be seen.
In their defense, Valve stated that it does not technically operate its business in Australia, regardless of the ability for Australian consumers to access the Steam Store.
Proceedings will begin and continue between March 7 and 9.
