Speaking today at GDC, Sony finally pulled back the curtain on their virtual reality headset, PlayStation VR. The system will launch October 2016 for $399/ €399/ £349.
It was also revealed the system will see 50 titles between its October release and the end of the year, one of which will be a PlayStation exclusive Star Wars Battlefront VR game. Though exact details on any what gamers can expect from that and the rest of games were sparse, Sony revealed they will have 20 games playable at GDC this week.
Priced substantially lower than both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, Sony explained their goal with PlayStation VR was to find the right price point that would make it accessable enough to grow the virtual reality market as a whole.
“For over two decades, we have aspired to take gamers somewhere greater. And we believe virtual reality is the next step on that journey, and will usher in an entirely new era of gaming,” SCEI President and Group CEO Andrew House said on Twitter.
