It has been rumored that Sony is working on a new version of the PlayStation 4, dubbed the “PlayStation 4.5.” Now, the most recent rumor is that the speculated system will be announced before the PlayStation VR launches in October.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the unannounced PlayStation 4.5 will be able to support the PlayStation VR when it releases this fall. The Wall Street Journal’s sources claim to be “familiar with the matter,” and stated that the new system would not be the end of the original PlayStation 4. Rather, it would be an option for consumers who want to enhance their gaming experience.
Of course, this is all speculation as Sony has not made any confirmation about the PlayStation 4.5. If true, we may hear about it at this year’s E3 convention.
The PlayStation VR will release in October. The headset will cost gamers $399 in the US.
