Microsoft has announced that the free-to-play Forza Motorsport 6: Apex is headed to Windows 10 PCs later this spring. The racer supports DirectX 12 and will run at resolutions up to 4K.
The game will feature Forza 6’s career mode in a 12-event “Showcase Tour” which “introduces players to fascinating cars and unique automotive match-ups through a series of beautifully crafted and entertaining videos, narrated by automotive celebrities such as James May and Richard Hammond.”
There will also be a new objective and scoring system where players can compete against each other by comparing their racing scores. Finally, a new feature entitled “Spotlight Series” will include “Showcase-style events” and will be updated by the developer on a regular basis.
Apex will feature 63 fully functioning Forzavista cars with working cockpits and full damage. Some of the cars include the 2014 Audi #2 Audi Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro, the 2017 Ford GT, and the 1973 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am SD-455. There will also be 20 track configurations across six locations and will feature wet and night variants. Those locations are Brands Hatch, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Rio de Janeiro, Sebring International Raceway, Top Gear and Yas Marina.
