Microsoft has announced that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, the remaster that was released August 2015 for Xbox One, is now available on PC.
The game will cost $29.99 and features “basically everything ever created for the game – from maps and modes released as downloadable content, to exclusive campaign chapters from the original Windows version.”
“If you’re playing the game on the highest settings, your GPU will be streaming in the neighborhood of 5-10 gigabytes of textures when you play through Gears’ Prison level,” Microsoft explained. “DirectX 12, according to McRae, is mainly to thank for all this, due to how it allows developers to more efficiently harness the multiple cores in today’s higher-end processors.”
The developer said that “medium” settings will offer performance on-par with how the game runs on Xbox One. Running the game on a “high-end” GPU at the highest settings will achieve 60 frames-per-second at 4K in the single-player campaign, and stay close to that mark in multiplayer.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is available today, March 1, 2016, on PC.
