Taking to Twitter, Microsoft’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb announced the wait is almost over. And better yet, for Xbox One Preview members, it is over. Halo Wars is now playable on Xbox One, and is waiting under Ready to Install.
Just earlier this week it was also announced that Alan Wake, Pac-Man, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night have officially joined the backwards compatible titles on the Xbox One. That means, in total, counting Halo Wars, the number of backwards compatible games sits at 142.
Halo Wars, released in 2009, was a real-time strategy take on the sci-fi universe, set roughly 20 years before Halo: Combat Evolved. Though we know very little about Halo Wars 2, we do know it’s coming to Xbox One and PC, and it’s in development at Creative Assembly, the developer responsible for the long-running Total War RTS series. The game is set to release sometime this fall.
With Halo Wars coming to backwards compatibility is it possible we’ll see more of its sequel in the near future? Keep checking back right here on Gamespresso to find out.
