Halo Wars leads three new Xbox backwards compatibility titles
After it came to Xbox One’s Preview Program last week, it was only a matter of time before Halo Wars dropped officially, making the leap from 360 to Xbox One. Releasing today however, it’s not alone. Two classic fighters, Soul Caliber II HD and The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match, have both made the jump as well. This comes as fellow fighter Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was added last week, alongside Dark Souls, Assassin’s Creed, the racer GRID 2, and the cover-based sci-fi shooter Dark Void. In all, the number of backwards compatible games now sits at 149.

Plenty of fans have been itching to play Halo Wars again, ever since Halo Wars 2 was announced last August. In development with the Total War studio, Creative Assembly, Halo Wars 2 marks the previously, thought-to-be, unlikely return of the sci-fi RTS. Set roughly 20 years before Halo: Combat Evolved, the first game placed players in the thick of battle, at the height of humanity’s war with the Covenant.
Given how little we know about the sequel, even though it is due to release sometime this year, we’ll likely see a full rundown at this year’s E3. Until then, will you be picking up Halo Wars on Xbox One backwards compatibility? Let us know in the comments.
