The physical release of the episodic Hitman title originally planned for release at the end of 2016 has been delayed to the beginning of 2017, according to Square Enix.
The reason for the delay according to a Square Enix representative is to ensure a successful worldwide launch for the title.
“This year is all about delivering the best episodic experience for Hitman and that takes us to Autumn/Fall,” Square Enix said to Polygon. “Releasing the disc version in January just makes sure we have enough time after the season concludes to dedicate to getting the best disc version of the game out.”
When the physical version of the game does release, it will contain all seven episodes that are set to be released individually throughout the year in 2016.
The first episode of Hitman releases tomorrow for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
