On the heels of the pleasant surprise earlier this month that even more content was on the way for the adorable shooter Splatoon, Nintendo has announced some interesting changes are on the way for the game’s matchmaking.
Starting this Friday, Mar. 18, with the introduction of the latest splatfest, what was once the Vibe Meter will be replaced with what is being called Splatfest Power.
Where the Vibe Meter started at zero with each play session and increased are decreased based on your performance, rewarding win-streaks with extra cash, the Splatfest Power will work a little differently. Though it will still increase and decrease based on your performance, your Splatfest Power will initially be set according to your Ranked Battle rank. End-of-game rewards will then be delivered based on the average of your team’s Splaterfest Power.
As for where the matchmaking changes come in, until now matchmaking was based on comparative play styles. Now it will favor players with similar Splatfest Powers, meaning it is indirectly based on your Ranked Battle rank and skill.
The next Splatfest will start this Friday, Mar. 18, at 9PM PST, will run for 24 hours, and poses the question: Do you want to build a snowman or a sandcastle?
Which will choose? And what do you think of the changes? Let us know in the comments.
