With the release of Pillars of Eternity’s White March part 2 DLC, Obsidian Entertainment have now turned their gaze onto their next project, Tyranny. Working together with Paradox Interactive once more, the game is going to be another RPG in a similar vein to Pillars of Eternity. Tyranny follows the premise of evil winning the war between good and evil and it is up to the players to stand as the agents of evil to sow disarray and forced loyalty upon the populace.
In Tyranny, the grand war between good and evil is over –and the forces of evil, led by Kyros, the Overlord, have won. The Overlord’s merciless armies dominate the face of the world, and its denizens must find their new roles within the war-torn realm. Players interact with the population of the populace to inspire loyalty, disgust, or fear as they roam the world as an officer in Kyros’ forces, empowered to act as both judge and executioner.
An interesting twist to the formula, the player will have to play as the enemy as they progress through an RPG adventure with such a giant scope. There’s a few more features mentioned on the Paradox page for Tyranny that emphasizes the key facts about the game: you’re evil and the game is a big RPG world. There’s no word on the release date, but the game has been confirmed to be released on PC, Mac and Linux.
