Is the PlayStation 4 getting a hardware upgrade to allow 4K resolution?

Developer sources (allegedly familiar with Sony’s plans) told Kotaku that the new version of the console, “PS4.5”, will feature a more powerful GPU, allowing the support of Super HD resolutions and increases to PlayStation VR performance.
It’s unclear whether this will be an upgrade to existing consoles, or a new release, though one source has said Sony may be planning to sell the console for $400.
Sony responded to contact regarding the rumor, telling Kotaku “We can’t comment on rumors or speculation.”
