Though PlayStation VR is the sole virtual reality device at launch that won’t require the use of a PC, it could end up there one day according to Sony.
Though “nothing will happen right away,” an interview with Sony Computer Entertainment executive vice president Masayasu Ito revealed the company plans for it to become PC accessible in due time.
“Since Playstation 4 shares a lot of its internals with PCs, the possibility is there,” said Ito to the Japanese publication Nikkei. “At the moment we are focused on games and we are not ready to make any announcements at this stage, but I’d say there will be an expansion into various fields.”
The interview was translated via Reddit user MSDefenseForce, who notes that it was “a rough translation [they] whipped up while drunk.”
Though the quote may not be filled with 100 percent accurate, Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida has previously stated that the company would benefit by getting PSVR on “as many platforms as possible.”
PSVR launches in October for $399. Have you pre-ordered yours yet?
