After fans pleading, begging, and speculating, cross-network play between the Xbox One and PC is finally coming to Rocket League, with potential news on the way regarding cross-play between Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Since the incredibly popular game was announced for the Xbox One in December, cross-play between those who would be playing on the Xbox One and the existing communities on PC and PS4 has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue.
The PS4 already supports cross-play between it and PC, so it’s only natural that Xbox One fans wanted in on the action. According to developer Psyonix, cross-network play has been the “number-one most requested feature” by the community.
“To say that the team here at Psyonix is both honored and excited to have Rocket League as the first cross-network game is a massive understatement,” the developer stated on the Rocket League website.
“…now that we are able to pursue complete online unity on all platforms, today’s announcement is a dream come true.”
For now, the announcement only pertains to cross-play between Xbox One and PC, though for Xbox One fans wanting to play their friends on PS4, news may not be too far off:
“Expect to see Rocket League cross-network play working on Xbox One and PC later this spring, with information regarding other platforms coming soon.“
