It seems Sony will be heading into the mobile market soon.
Sony has announced the creation of a new company called ForwardWorks Corporation, a new company that is aimed to “deploy new services toward the ever-expanding smart device market.” The company will begin operation on April 1st, 2016.
According to the press release, ForwardWorks will use “the intellectual property of the numerous PlayStation dedicated software titles and its gaming characters” that Sony has acquired over the years to develop for smart phone devices to users in Japan and Asia. The company aims to bring full-fledged game titles to the smart device market.
Sony gave a list of directors and board members for ForwardWorks, which includes Atsushi Morita (president), Andrew House (member of the board), Hiroshi Ueda (member of the board), and Kazuhiko Ono (auditor). Sony also announced that its official title as Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. will change to Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. on April 1st.
