In a recent survey sent out by Microsoft, Xbox One owners were asked whether they would ever consider trading in their digital copies of video games for 10% of their original value. According to head of Xbox games marketing Aaron Greenberg, though, the survey doesn’t mean that Microsoft will start trade-ins for digital games.
This could be seen as a push into GameStop’s territory, which has made multiple remarks over the past year over wanting to implement such a digital trade-in system.
Research analyst Colin Sebastian tweeted a photo of the survey question, wondering about whether GameStop should be concerned. Greenberg came to the rescue with an answer from Microsoft, without really stating whether Microsoft plans to ever implement such a system. He states that they’re not “actively planning such a thing,” which doesn’t mean that they aren’t considering the possibility.
How would you feel about digital trade-ins through Microsoft? Sound off in the comments!
@Colin_Sebastian We are not actively planning such a thing. Always asking questions to understand the needs of our fans. No need to worry
