Dark Souls is coming to the tabletop.
Steamforged Games, the team behind 2014’s Guild Ball, plans to launch the Dark Souls board game on Kickstarter later this month. Steamforged Games is working with Bandai Namco on the board game, so there is no danger of the project being shut down for copyright infringement.
The Dark Souls board game promises to have “near infinite replayability,” all due to “an innovative behavior mechanic that will mean no two encounters are ever the same.” The game will feature a “fast setup, long reveal” mechanic that will get players into the game faster and build the location as they explore. The board game is made for one to four players, and is planned to be as brutally hard as its video game counterpart. The game also comes with detailed minifigures from the Dark Souls universe, such as Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough.
The Kickstarter campaign for the Dark Souls board game will begin on April 19th. You can check out Steamforged Games website for more details. The next entry in the video game series, Dark Souls 3, is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game released in Japan a few weeks ago, and a speedrunner has already beat the game in under two hours.
