And the company is not fooling around – they’ve already lined up some big names to work with through the label, including Ready At Dawn Studios (The Order: 1886), Frozenbyte (Trine), Tequila Works (Rime) and the previously announced Insomniac Games (Ratchet and Clank, Sunset Overdrive).
Through these partnerships, GameStop will create what they call “non-traditional game publishing” by helping bring these studios’ games to digital retailer and GameStop’s store shelves.
“GameTrust will revolutionize the game development and distribution process by offering a new way for independent developers to create and introduce their own IP to a broad gaming audience and for gamers to discover and enjoy exclusive new video game experiences,” the company said.
GameStop has stressed that the company will remain external from any creative development from any of the titles that come from these studios, but rather will continue to focus on “exclusive real estate within its online and physical stores to offer gamers access to new games available across multiple platforms, including digital, physical, console, PC and VR.”
GameTrust will work with even more developers and games that the company plans to announce in the near future.
