Hearthstone Whispers of the Old Gods brings big changes April 26
Announced earlier this year, the next Hearthstone expansion, Whispers of the Old Gods, finally has a release date. Rolling out April 26, the expansion introduces 134 new cards, some of which are “corrupted” versions of old favorites.Aside from the influx of new cards however, Whispers of the Old Gods also ushers in a massive change for Hearthstone’s competitive play. The expansion will introduce the idea of Standard and Wild matches. While Wild matches will allow the use of any card added to the game, stretching back through every expansion, Standard is a bit more restrictive, allowing only basic cards and any cards added in the past two calendar years. Following this new format, cards from Curse of Naxxramas and Goblins vs. Gnomes, the game’s first two expansions, will not be usable in standard play.
