Microsoft is ready for cross-network play, just waiting on everyone else
Last month Microsoft stated that they would support cross-network play between the Xbox One and other consoles, including the PlayStation 4. Now, Microsoft has announced that they are ready to utilize cross-network play.In an interview with Eurogamer, ID@Xbox's European boss Agostino Simonetta spoke on Microsoft's compatibility with cross-network play. When asked if the technology was there, Simonetta responded: "Absolutely - we're ready. Rocket League is the first game - and it is a heavily network-oriented game... But yes, any title that wants to update their game to include cross-network play, any title that wants to launch soon and take advantage of that, we are ready."

When asked if the ball was in other people’s courts, Simonetta said: “As far as we’re concerned – we’ve made the announcement and we’re ready – whoever wants to get on board. It remains an open invitation to any network that wants to do the same.”
Rocket League already allows both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to play in cross-platform matches with PC gamers, but not with each other. It now seems to be up to Sony on whether or not the game will allow cross-network play between the two consoles.
