With the release of Telltale’s episode 5 of Minecraft: Story Mode, Mojang is throwing a bit of a celebration. Though three more episodes have been announced for the Minecraft-set adventure game, episode 5 was originally meant to be the last. And Minecraft was set to bid it a fond farewell.
From now until April 12, all 27 character skins, modeled after the characters of Minecraft: Story Mode, are free for iOS, Xbox platforms, PC, and PlayStation platforms (everywhere except for Japan). Or as the Mojang puts it: “The skin pack will be totally 100% definitely entirely utterly properly free.”
After April 12, the skin pack will run gamers $2.99, but the six available characters skins for Story Mode’s protagonist, Jesse, will remain available to everyone.
If that still wasn’t enough, Mojang is also offering a free Story Mode arena map, available for download on the developer’s website. “Hatch dastardly plots as the beardy schemer Ivor, leave a trail of explosive destruction as the roguish Magnus, or get a gang together and see if you can survive the whirring cogs of Soren’s mob-grinder…”
Our review of the fifth episode of Minecraft: Story Mode praised it for telling a tight, interesting stand-alone story, while still opening things up for the future. We even called it the best episode of the series so far.
