Hitting the news hard in the past week was the announcement that The Legend of Zelda for Wii U would not only be released for the ‘NX’ but it will be pushed back for 2017. Adding one more strike, Nintendo had announced that E3 2016 will see no other playable game except for The Legend of Zelda. The decision was made ‘in order to provide attendees a complete immersion’.
This upcoming Legend of Zelda is the second game in the franchise to have a simultaneous release on a current and next generation device. Nintendo had done this with the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess previously. With the Wii version coming out earlier than the GameCube version in North America.
A decision like this has sparked some backlash, but it’s important to keep in mind that despite the choice to focus solely on the upcoming title, there will still be sweet sweet announcements of other games within Nintendo’s sleeves.
