Fumito Ueda is ‘worried’ about The Last Guardian’s release
Having been in and out of production for more than five years, The Last Guardian has not followed a typical schedule for a major video game release. As such, designer Fumito Ueda is somewhat concerned about a number of the game's aspects.Speaking in Edge #294, Ueda explains, "As you know, the development period has been very long, so there have been some times where it was quite difficult for me to keep my motivation up. And also, since this year we will se the game's release, I do have some worries."
Having been in and out of production for more than five years, The Last Guardian has not followed a typical schedule for a major video game release. As such, designer Fumito Ueda is somewhat concerned about a number of the game’s aspects.
Speaking in Edge #294, Ueda explains, “As you know, the development period has been very long, so there have been some times where it was quite difficult for me to keep my motivation up. And also, since this year we will se the game’s release, I do have some worries.”
Regarding the dynamic between the two main characters, Ueda also says, “It would be a lie to say that I have no worries, but another game where you can completely control a creature wouldn’t be enjoyable for me because there are a lot out there where you can do that. I think I’ve had enough of them.”
Fingers crossed Ueda’s innovations pays off. Originally announced all the way back in 2009, the project went silent. The Last Guardian was then revealed last year at E3 with an extended gameplay demo. While there is still no firm release date, look for a lot more information to come from Sony’s conference next month. For all your The Last Guardian coverage, stay tuned to Gamespresso.
