It warms my heart to see successful games made in my hometown, and 3 Sprockets along with Hipster Whale are making the next big jump for their hit mobile game Pac-Man 256. The game is based on the ‘Level 256’ glitch that made the game unbeatable. The team have now started the push to put the game on consoles and PC.
Pac-Man 256 pits you against the clock as you race past the various Ghosts while gobbling up pellets and fruits. As you continue forward, the world is being consumed behind by the glitch and Pac-Man has to keep going to achieve the highest possible score. At least that’s what the mobile version consisted of. The gameplay looks very similar in the console/PC version except for one brand new feature; 4 player local co-op multi-player. Allowing for even more chaotic fun, players can now wrangle three more friends to take on the board.
Pac-Man 256 was free on mobile devices with a very fair f2p model. This time around, the game looks like it will be p2p and will be available on Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game will be released on July 21st, 2016.
