Packing in all the emotion and character Blizzard is famous for, the newest trailer for Overwatch shows off the story behind the multiplayer shooter.
While not actually tied to why all of the Overwatch members are fighting each other, the narrative continues from the two previous animated shorts. One featured Winston, while the other followed Windowmaker.
After growing tensions between the robot omnics and humans, Winston is recalling the disbanded members of Overwatch. Though they saved the world in the first Omnic Crisis, the group was outlawed, forcing its members to disperse and take up any form of occupation they could find.
Though the trailer starts off lighthearted, the stakes and emotions ramp up quick.
The trailer comes just as Overwatch launches its first open beta on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
