This year’s Call of Duty is taking the series to a new frontier: space. And if the gameplay demo from Sony’s E3 stage is any indication, Infinite Warfare is going to be quite the ride.
The demo starts off in distinctly non-Call of Duty fashion. First the player walks through a space ship hanger, then gets in a fighter, and soon blasts into a space battle. “Launching from the UNSA Retribution, the SCAR team must engage in intense Jackal dogfighting and close-quarters combat through zero-g to accomplish a coordinated assault with the UNSA Tigris,” the demo’s description reads.
Pulse-pounding and meant to tap into that deep Star Wars fantasy we all hold on to, the dogfighting is over too soon.
Once out of the cockpit, the game becomes much more recognizable for fans of the previous Call of Duty titles. But now all your favorite things are in zero-gravity, putting them in a whole new perspective. Your abilities are all designed for this new type of warfare, be it the grappling hook that lets you attach to ships and enemies, or the homing grenades.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is set to release November 4 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. What do you think of the demo? Let us know in the comments.
