Xbox E3 has arrived and with it comes some new footage of the newest entry in the Gears franchise, Gears of War 4.
The gameplay footage at the conference shows the game’s heroes: JD Fenix, Del Walker and Kait Diaz fighting to reach Kait’s mother through a dam that is experiencing one hell of a storm, there’s debris flying at you and even a little lightning joins the fun with players having to avoid the concentrated streams.
The gameplay shown doesn’t differ much from Gears of War 3 but they did show off some new enemies and weapons such as a gun that fires saw blades that bounce from surface to surface, it’s not clear if this can cause self-damage but it is definitely gory.
We also got a look at some of the new enemies you’ll be facing in the game. First showcased in the new trailer were enemies akin to the Wraiths from Gears of War 3, you then see some Swarm Drones which for all intensive purposes are the Locust Drones, they move the same and they fight the same so you won’t be too far away from core Gears of War excperiene. New gameplay mechanics showed was the cover kill mechanic where you can drag foes over cover and execute them using Y, the execution can be performed by either you or your co-op partners, but why share the glory right? Also shown off was a large hostile that is reminiscent of the berserker but unfortunately, we don’t see much before it cuts to black.
Before the trailer ends, however, we do see an old Marcus Fenix welcome his son home.
