Reports are indicating that a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us is in the works, and that an announcement may come before E3 this year.
According to Gameblog.fr (translated by VG 24/7), NetherRealm Studios is currently working on a sequel using the same engine that powered their most recent title, Mortal Kombat X. Gameblog’s report supports a statement from an Injustice forum user “Rick-Blevins,” who claimed last week that inside knowledge told him that the sequel was being developed.
“I just heard from a reliable source Injustice 2 is happening and is being tested now,” Rick-Blevins posted. “We could see a release sometime next year. I hesitate to post this because I don’t want to get into any kind of trouble but this news is too big to keep quiet from fellow eager players. I cannot reveal my source because he is a tester and he doesn’t want to get into trouble either.”
NetherRealm Studios has neither confirmed nor denied the report at this time.
Injustice: Gods Among Us 2 is said to have a March 2017 release window. The game is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
