Recently, fans have been asking for PlayStation 4 versions of the two Kingdom Hearts HD collections that originally launched on PlayStation 3. In response, Kingdom Hearts 3 co-director Tai Yasue revealed Square Enix’s stance on the subject.
“We haven’t come to decision and nothing is announced yet,” Yasue said in an interview with GameSpot. “We listen to our fans and our players and see what they think about it–and, yeah, I’m not ruling it out, but we’re not making an announcement just yet.”
He also spoke about the current progress on the series’ third installment. Despite the lack of an appearance at any of this year’s E3 press conferences, he said the game is “moving along fine.”
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix included the first game, Chain of Memories, and 358/2 Days; it was released in 2013. The following year Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix launched containing the second game, Re:Coded, and Birth by Sleep.
The upcoming installment Kingdom Heart 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue includes an HD remaster of Dream Drop Distance, a playable episode called 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage, and a cinematic movie called Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] Back Cover.
Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue will release on PlayStation 4 in December of this year.
