Legend of Zelda breaking series conventions
Today at Nintendo's E3 Treehouse special, not only were we shown a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but we were also treated to a hands on demo. This demo showed the world just how much this title is breaking the conventions of franchise and giving us a whole new experience like never before.I think one of the things that fans noticed right away was the use of english speaking voice acting. Link opens his eyes after hearing a clear saying, "Link, wake up." It was pretty amazing to hear those words actually spoken. There will also be subtitles for those who prefer to read or are hard of hearing. As soon as Link wakes up, he is surrounded by some mysterious looking technology as well. This is unlike most other Legend of Zelda titles, which feature far more magic than any technology.

We do see the return of the Stamina Gauge from Skyward Sword. This time, however, it is used to to measure much more than just sprinting. In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Link can actually jump on command and even climb. He can climb almost anything. Do as much exploring as you can up trees, mountains, and more. You’ll notice from this exploration that there is so much to the environment. You have to collect food and other resources to survive in this land. No more finding hearts in the grass, gonna have to gather and cook food to heal yourself.
This is true for your weapons and armor as well. You can steal weapons from enemies and find different clothing equipment. All of these have RPG statuses, so you’ll always be looking for something better. You’ll also need to find as many weapons as you can, because they also have a durability element and will break after awhile. Some are larger than others and require two hands, so no shields when you have those. The Link of this Legend of Zelda title will have to use all his wits, not just to solve puzzles, but to make it through the environment alive.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be released on both Wii U and Nintendo NX. Keep tuning in to Gamespresso for more information as the Nintendo Treehouse special continues.
