The team behind The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is interested in making a title about Sheik, according to series creator Shigeru Miyamoto.
Speaking to GameRant, Miyamoto stated that even though Zelda may not be playable in Breath of the Wild, the team behind the title has talked about making a game starring the princess’ alter ego, Sheik.
“Within the development team too, there have been talks about how it might be cool to have a game that features Sheik as a protagonist, ” Miyamoto explains. “It’s having maybe a Zelda spin-off with Sheik as a protagonist, for example, I don’t think that’s an impossibility.”
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is looking to be the most ambitious title in the series in terms of the game’s sheer size. When the title was shown at E3 this year, Nintendo stated that the game’s map will be roughly 12 times larger than what was seen in Twilight Princess. The demo shown at the event showed off an area called the Great Plateau, which featured large fields, enemy camps, and shrines. It has been reported that this area was only 1% of the game’s total size.
Breath of the Wild is set to release in 2017. The game will release on the Wii U, as well as Nintendo’s mysterious new system, the NX.
