Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida has confirmed that the title’s next expansion will be revealed at the Fan Festival in October.
Yoshida was asked by Game Watch (via Siliconera) if gamers would have to wait until Fan Festival this October for details on Final Fantasy XIV’s next expansion. Yoshida stated: “That’s right. This is a game that is supported by many players, so we’d like to share the biggest news together with the fans at the Fan Festival meetings.”
Yoshida also stated that the developer will use the Tokyo Game Show to talk about the upcoming 3.4 patch.
The game’s latest patch, entitled Revenge of the Horde, was released earlier this month, and brought with it a good number of additions to the title. This includes new main scenario quests, a 24-player raid, two new dungeons, and the Aquapolis treasure dungeon. The update also included new crafting and gathering items, new gear, new Hildibrand quests, and the next part in the Anima weapon questline.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. It is believed that the title’s next expansion will bring an end to support for the PlayStation 3 version of the game, though this has not yet been confirmed.
