Sony has finally confirmed that PlayStation Neo exists, but don’t expect it to be at E3 2016.
While speaking with Financial Times, President and Global Chief Executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Andrew House, said that the “high end” PlayStation 4 would be more expensive then the standard console.
NeoGaf user Thomper highlighted two parts of the interview on the forums (for those not subscribed to Financial Times) from the article.
Andrew House explained that,”It is [The Neo] intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4, […] We will be selling both [versions] through the life cycle.”
The Neo will target hard-core gamers with a 4K resolution television. House refused to detail when the console would go on sale, and for how much. They also don’t have plans to announce anything at E3. “We want to ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety,”
Andrew House stressed that all games will still support the standard PlayStation 4, and a large majority of games are expected to support the Neo. “All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4,”
