Anyone who has paid attention to the trends of the gaming industry in the past year or so knows that virtual reality is on the way. This E3 we saw one company getting ready for their device to take over the VR scene. Sony and their PlayStation VR.
At the Sony press conference on Monday, it was announced that the PlayStation VR would be released on October 13th at $399. Will this is a solid release date, there is a chance not everyone who wants one will be able to get theirs that day. PlayStation Executive Andrew House spoke with CNBC about what he expects to be a major milestone for the company. “We have growing confidence that we’ll be supply constrained with this product, but we’ll do our very best to meet demand,” House stated. “Virtual reality is a medium that’s in its infancy. With such a nascent, very new form of storytelling, it’s difficult to predict what user uptake is going to be.”
While he is right about the medium being in infancy, that is what makes it all the more exciting. Perhaps the PlayStation VR won’t sell out across the world right away, but will have to prove its worth to those willing to try it out first. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
