It seems Rocket League is doing pretty well.
It has been announced that Rocket League has passed over $110 million in sales. That comes out to over 5 million copies being sold on PC and console. On top of that, the game has sold over 5 million units of DLC. The title had sold 4 million copies by December of last year, meaning the game sold 1 million copies in 2016. Rocket League had originally been launched as a free PlayStation Plus title, making these numbers much more impressive.
“Our numbers are actually going up, not down, which is not very common for a game that’s ten months old” Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham told Forbes. “Thanks to PlayStation Plus at launch, those numbers are really front-loaded in the beginning.”
42% of the game’s active player base is on the PlayStation 4, while 36% of the current player base is on PC. The remaining 22% of players own the title on the Xbox One.
Rocket League selling well is not the only news to be released for the vehicular sports title. The game will be receiving DLC based off of Techland’s zombie title, Dying Light. Players will also be able to earn both Painted and Certified items in the game.
